Queen Kubau // Also known as Kug-bau. She is one of the first queens to ever be recorded in history - ancient Sumerian Queen Kubau (also known as Kug-bau or Kubaba). Her relationship to pomegranates is a special one, and the ancestral connection many of us in the Levant region have to the tree and fruit are incredibly sacred, as well as appropriate for the holiday season. 𓇨𓁅

I utilized ancient depictions of Queen Kubau with pomegranate imagery that I designed and carved from linoleum and rubber blocks. I printed it onto paper and further adjusted the final illustration digitally in Photoshop.
